It looks like everyone is doing it, fast food chains are everywhere. And you can see the effects of fast food in a lot of people in America. They are fat, rushing around to get everything done and they are angry.
It’s obvious that eating fast food should be avoided at all costs, but it needs to be taken to the next level we need to eat slow. Eating slow means:
- Taking your time
- Eating fresh, unprocessed food
- Focusing on eating, not the T.V.
- Enjoying your food
One of the biggest hurdles can be taking your time. “What time?” you might ask. The time you make! You must make the conscious effort to change your idea of food. It is not just an other meal to keep us going, it is what we are and the time spent on that should always be worth it.
An important factor is making your own food. You can make quick meals at home that use fresh ingredients and save a lot of money. The Internet is littered with quick meals and there are a ton cookbooks books that cover the subject. Although it can be overwhelming to weed out the good recipes from the bad you can find basic recipes and make them your own by changing or adding a few simple items. The most important thing to keep in mind is why you’re eating at home, you are eating at home to have the absolutely freshest REAL food that you could possibly have. Using unprocessed fresh food will heal you in more ways than you know, giving you the energy and clear mind to live life at it’s fullest.
Let the meal be your entertainment. Don’t watch t.v. or read, just chew. Let the meal be a meal. You will find that if you focus on the meal that you will enjoy it much more. When you enjoy it more you want to cook more, making finding time for your meal more enjoyable.
Take it slow. I have learned a lot about this from my fiance, he eats slow, painfully slow and it can some times get to be annoying watching him eat long after I have already finished. But I have learned to slow my eating habits down and found that life slows and it becomes more about this moment. I chew my food slower and with more intent and I find myself enjoying the meal.
The nutrition you can get by taking your time and eating fresh, real food, will give you:
- More energy
- More self-healing
- More joy
- More reasons to take care of YOU
Guess what? You can start today! Start letting your body become what it is intended to be, healthy.
